Big Projects. Zero Focus on People.

Pros

Jacobs delivers big projects so there are great opportunities for younger staff to gain good experience in the earlier stages of their careers.

Cons

Despite internal spin to the contrary, Jacobs has absolutely zero focus on people. The annual performance review is a sham that even management roll their eyes at; too many mid-level managers are motivated solely by metrics and spend zero time mentoring and developing talent; these same managers too often adopt a "if you don't like it, leave" attitude that results in the continual and senseless loss of key staff. The Buildings and Infrastructure team in Texas seems to be in self-destruct mode with great folk leaving in numbers even though there's a healthy marketplace with plenty of work.

Pros

They do have a great environment with great benefits while you are actually working with them. The job is generally fun, the assignments interesting, and the management friendly.

Cons

They don't understand the concept of "retention". I've been laid off from Jacobs three times. They never fight to keep any particular position, only the overall contract, and they are more than happy to lay anyone off at any time. They talk a good talk about how you can look for other jobs within the company, but they don't believe in giving any assistance with this endeavor. It is as useful as applying from the outside.

Pros

The employees that actually works for the City of Sandy Springs and are not contracted from Jacobs are great.

Cons

If you want to be treated like an inmate or a child then this is the place for you. If you want to be constantly stressed out or if you like being talk to like a animal or like you are nobody then this is the place for you. If you like being told when you can get up and go to the restroom then this is the place for you. The management is awful you can tell that they were just thrown in this position with no training what so ever they are BULLYIES! If you have prior experience they do not honor it by no means necessary. You could tell them but they will always say you didnt learn it there so therefore you dont know. There is a older lady that works there that is not management that runs the manager. There is no communication or friendliness in the office. Everyone is for themselves and its not a team like its supposed to be. This is the worst job i have ever had in my life! Im so happy not to be employed with Jacobs/Sandy Springs Municipal Court.
