      Great Pay, Terrible Benefits

      Pros

      Jacobs is a fairly typical mega-firm in the engineering world. It pays better than competitors and is managed better than others (such as ones starting in AE, and ending in COM). For a large company, it doesn't have the excessive amount of hoops to jump through for simple things, like filling out a timesheet.

      Cons

      HR is a centralized call center and not very helpful, and benefits are abysmal--health insurance for example is basically one small rung above signing up for Obamacare. Maternity policies are the bare minimum required by law. It's appalling for a firm with such deep pockets to offer such pathetic benefits.

      Pros

      Prior to all the new management changes, the company was rock solid, fiscally conservative and overall an ethical company that put it's clients first while respecting the contributions of it's employees.

      Cons

      - Corporate management is controlled by a new elitist management team that has no solid industry knowledge. Their management style are similar to the managers in the Office and even Dilbert. - They believe in change for the sake of change and recruit high level managers who share their perverse view of change management while firing long tenured employees who have served the company faithfully. - They hide behind a motto that is an industry joke and treat their people like pawns in a game.

      Nice people to work with in the Process organization. Not so much in Infrastructure.

      Pros

      In Process the majority of the folks I've worked with are kind, caring and genuinely considerate of others. I has been one of the nicest work environments I've worked in.

      Cons

      When there are toxic people it takes Jacobs a long time to identify, recognize and deal with them in an appropriate manner.
