Expectations vs Reality

Pros

Good people working there, and a lot of people who truly care about the work. Training provided was extensive, although not all used on the job.

Cons

Expectations coming into the job were not exactly what was provided in terms of job description. Basically the company is in need of quality engineers and may hire you for a project engineering role and then switch you to working quality last minute. The culture is ok - if you mountain bike you can make friends easily, and working OT is often expected.

Lots of good hands on experience and design experience, good people yo work with

Cons

Work you extremely hard snd long hours even if you are a newer employee. Give beginning and young engineers too much responsibility. Culture there is work as hard as you can until you really become burnt out. The upper management does not really have time to mentor young engineers as well as they could to get newer engineers up to speed on the task that is at hand.

Pretty good small company with nice people

Pros

Managers and even upper management really do care about you and how you are developing as an engineer, and all the coworkers here are great interesting people. The small, hands-on nature of the company is also great.

Cons

Going through a lot of growth, and definitely buckling under the weight of that. Lots of stress and long hours to make up for the need to hire more people. The CEO has also made tone-deaf decisions like getting rid of the 9/80 schedule with no reason and generally has a bit of a disconnect from the managers. Location is fairly remote, which is a pro or con depending on your point of view.
