Health benefits have really become costly since switching to a mandatory high deductible plan. For someone with monthly prescriptions or frequent doctor visits, it was an immediate reduction in income. They also don't reward current employees with anything more than standard raises unless there is a title change, so there is less incentive for employees to go above and beyond their duties.
