Pros

AllCar app vision is inspiring

Cons

When negotiating your compensation, be prepared for misleading and inflated upside presentation and the low end of base/bonus compensation relative to market. Executives seem friendly during interview, and quickly become very difficult to work with and demanding, setting goals they know can't be reached and don't provide you resources to achieve them. Especially the COO. Terrible environment to work in. Be prepared to do exactly what they tell you to do instead of having autonomy, regardless of your experience or level. The business model has serious problems too and they have to pay for all their customers, losing money every day. They aren't having success building out an AllCar app beyond just offering insurance shopping comparison, which works by lowering their customers coverage to the lowest state minimum levels. Shady!

Pros

Fully remote if you like to work from home. Engineers are really nice and smart. Nice HRBP team always did their best to support the engineering team during those hard times (unfortunately they are all gone). You will have a good time when your manager likes you, and you will get a shoutout for spending your whole weekend on 15 P0 tasks assigned to you on Friday afternoon with a deadline on Monday.

Cons

Some PMs and Designer are the god of the company, but engineers are treated like lower-class citizens here. You will be expected to write bug-free code without enough time to write tests. Let's hope the passion for excellence and sense of urgency will make that happen.

Pros

Remote work. That’s it. Coworkers are mostly nice and good, but that’s true everywhere.

Cons

There’s little room for professional development. You won’t be able to advance far in the company and there’s no structure to allow for this to happen. And you won’t receive raises. There’s ok insurance, but not anything special, and there’s no 401k matching—for years they have been saying they’re trying to make it happen, and I’m almost certain it never will at this point. They just don’t care enough to pay for it. They will gaslight you that your job is secure and they’re financially stable for years to come and then lay you off at the snap of a finger on a random day. It’s happened to so many people at the company., jsut read the reviews. They’re getting rid of all the talent because they can’t afford it and it’s gonna hurt them in the long run. If you value remote work this highly, go ahead and proceed…with caution.
