Good Job for Part Time College Students
Pros
Pay is good for college students, especially with the extra hours they will inevitably ask you to work. After the ~3 months I was there I left with significant growth from the 401K the company contributed to along with my own contributions. Charter flights will bring lots of leftover food that they are often nice enough to leave for the FBO staff so I rarely had to bring lunch. Wide variety of aircraft operations happening at this location; medivacs, military, general aviation, sports and concert charters. 95% of customers are very nice, and the customer service reps up front are always fun to talk with. Some moments with LOTS to do so it will keep you busy!
Cons
On the contrary, some moments where there's absolutely nothing to do for hours. You sit there with 4 or 5 other guys, and if you don't have training/approval to clean/maintain equipment then you're going to be really bored. The reason I got hired is the guys complained to management they were short-staffed for my shift, but then I got there and half the time just sat there. When I would offer to do things, or go above and clean around the office, I was often questioned why I couldn't just sit there. Demotivating for someone who likes to keep moving. People who train you are inconsistent and often don't tell you what the end goal is to what you're working on till you've already messed up. It's frustrating. Though I was hired on for part-time to accommodate my full-time college schedule, I was often scheduled ~30 hours or more a week and then asked to pick up a shift every week. Nice thing is if you turn down the extra shift they don't hold it against you.
