Talented people, cool product

Pros

New to the team, but privileged to have met some of the most talented individuals I've come across in my career so far. Product is a category leader (niche category) and does provide serious value for the user. Many advancements on the roadmap that should further entrench differentiation against other resume solutions on the market. Growing quickly as of late. Brings its own challenges, but comes with excitement and opportunity for career advancement.

Cons

Classic startup problems: Processes not always mature, change happens quickly, everyone figuring out their way with less guidance than an enterprise organization. Could be a plus depending on the kind of work environment you thrive in.

Great cause, but the management?

Pros

You get to do a lot of work for people who are at their lowest point. Getting to help people navigate the shifting job market is incredibly challenging and rewarding. Also, the B2B side was growing really quickly, which was fun, intense, and challenging (the good kind). Ultimately, you get to serve one of the most under-served group of people - folks who have been in a job for 20 years and got laid off. The forgotten many. Also, the management structure was great when they'd hired a COO, but he did not stick around.

Cons

As you can see from other reviews, the CEO leaves a lot to be desired. He's incredibly challenging to work with, vague in his communication, and micromanages people to the point of outro. It's part of the reason the average tenure is slightly over one year (which includes people who have been with the company since inception). My impression is that the reason for this is the demeaning behavior from said CEO. He doesn't seem to have empathy for his employees, he doesn't keep his word or attempts to retranslate what he said into other meanings, and is generally...well, unintentionally cruel. If you don't report to him, I've heard it's much easier. Still, the retention challenge is real for a reason.
