Pros

The benefits are decent, and if you find a sales manager that really cares to help and train you, you might do well. If you find reps that care to help you, you might do well. The culture can be extremely cut-throat and competitive and there's a lot of experience there that you can still use in your favor to learn on the job.

Cons

This is a VERY long list.... There is little to no chance for movement within the company, and very little opportunity overall. It's of course very cliquey, and definitely a "boys club," and younger individuals (under 30), are not very common. The upper level management could not care less about their employees. They push extremely unrealistic expectations on their employees and shame them for not being able to reach these unrealistic goals.... there are no "team bonding events" because it is viewed as a waste on employees and would never get approved by corporate. Now, on to support. There is almost none. You get minimal training in CO and virtually nothing related to products. We are told we don't need to know things in depth, and that the estimators are able to help--but the estimators are divided between dozens and dozens of projects from other reps, so you do have to learn how to put together projects, and quite in-depth so you can and should be able to put projects together yourself. The sales managers are usually kept way too busy with corporate calls to help you and are instructed not to help because it would be a waste of their valuable time. You may make a mistake--or not make a mistake-- and have extreme difficulty pushing contracts through, because of how cheap corporate is with paying employees, and moved their booking office/team from Indianapolis to outside of the US to "save some money", so you lose the decade of experience that many of the other employees in indy had in the corporate booking processes which caused serious slow-downs in the booking process (one time I was on a call to push a contract through *for an hour* and ended up getting hung up on because they didn't want to help), an issue that could've normally been resolved in 20 mins, that ended up taking 10 days. And you are usually scolded for this process taking so long when it's their entirely new staff team somewhere outside the US. My manager was very kind and tried to not let his reps feel like they're drowning--tried to be there and help, and I always really appreciated him for trying to be there and on our side. The systems are unreasonably finicky and over-complicated. There are other information systems that are absolutely archaic, and still in use. Many employees are not fully trained on all the systems and how to gather information from them. The "front office" is also understaffed. Theres once again, like with the estimators, maybe one or 2 people in the admin office to help you, but so incredibly bogged down by work from the entire sales team that you can be put off to the side for up to 2 weeks, and either you need to find another path. They are all so sweet and hardworking, but just don't have time, so all your time and effort in even being at the office to do paperwork or system design feels so pointless because no one is there to help you or just doesn't have time (ALL BECAUSE CORPORATE DOESNT CARE TO INVEST IN THE REPS SUCCESS), and when they finally did (in their mind), give another manager and 1 other estimator to come in and help, and we didn't "magically" meet their insane FY Q1 and Q2 goals, they took them away, and acted as though the bare minimum in proper support for sales was a privilege because there wasn't a significant or immediate enough change. The CEO makes an insane amount of money. It's public. He had a total compensation of nearly $15.4 million in 2018 (working as tyco's president/JCIs CEO since as early as 2009). Likely more in 2019, and I can only imagine what he made after the 2 rounds of layoffs, where at least 1/3 of JCI's largest office was laid off. I have witnessed no real leadership from top executives in this company at this time. Overall this experience wasn't great. There are a lot of takeaways and learned what treatment to not accept while at a company.
