Pros

Albeit more difficult in 2009 due to the overall economy, there are usually opportunities to rotate and change roles (if not careers) within the confines of J&J

Cons

Overall, J&J has some of the best senior management of any large corporation. Within certain disciplines and organizations in J&J that is unfortunately not the case. One of the best examples of poor senior management is with Information Technology. There are exceptions to this, but unfortunately too much poor management has been in IT for too long.

Pros

Opportunity to do meaningful & rewarding work within J&J's Global Strategic Marketing group. Within 6 months, I was given the chance to create global strategy presentations for VPs, and was rewarded with significant stock options and a J&J Achievement Award. Within 18 months, I was invited by the CEO to present ideas on how to make J&J more competitive to Company Group Chairmen/Company Presidents

Cons

Management encourages you to move on to a new position every 2 years, so you often have to give up your dream job for a required career step, such as District Manager (in the pharmaceutical sector).

Pros

Johnson & Johnson has good name recognition & reputation.

Cons

This division of J&J is not fair when promoting and advancing its employees. It is not based on experience or merit, but rather on who knows who. If you are looking for a place to grow and develop your career this is definitely not the place for you.
