Pros

It was fun to build relationships with the kids and watch their progress. Lots of opportunities.

Cons

Obviously hours are usually when kids are not in school, so you can't really work full-time easily unless you want to nanny.

Tutors are set up to fail

Pros

Staff were nice, subject-level tutoring seemed to work well.

Cons

Not enough time to effectively tutor for the SAT/ACT. Sold "packages" to families that consisted of X number of hours, rather than signing them on for a "course" of tutoring. Promised parents score improvements of 150-300 points on the SAT, but also let them only sign their students up for 1 hour of tutoring per week. Then tutors were blamed for a lack of improvement. Management threatened to not pay for worked hours if hours were logged late (not legal).

Pros

Flexible schedule, Families and nannies are background checked which makes everyone feel safer, Get to work with a lot of different families, Pay taken care of by company through mobile/online app

Cons

Low nanny pay in comparison with going rates in area and how much families are being charged, No raises, No benefits
