The hiring bar remains high. KCG continues to hire really smart, diverse, and goal driven professionals. They have re-defined the firm in the last 2 years and the legacy mindset is history. Opportunity to have an immediate impact on the future of the firm. You're not just another cog in the wheel. The expectations are high for every employee, regardless of the role you play.

Cons

Shifting priorities, lots of moving parts, working in the gray - typical of a start-up operation. Still some under-performers that need to move on.

Pros

flat management structure, engineers and quants are empowered both as teams and individuals, management dedicated to investment in technology and quant-driven business ideas, people are not only tremendously talented but also *nice* for the most part, good work-life balance

Cons

still occasional post-merger friction in some areas; it's really a new firm in many ways and has associated growing pains as teams and business units get things worked out; HQ in Jersey City is a downer
