KFC is a community, and feels very much like a family. That closeness makes it difficult to under-achieve, as there are people around you that you trust that will share their insights with you. The company and the franchisees are very different, but there is a nice convergence of ideas from both in the day-to-day operations of the stores. Overall, a tremendous place to grow and develop marketing abilities.

Cons

Because of the close-knit nature of the department, sometimes there is too much outside interest in your own performance. Also, there is a lot of infighting.

Free food for most employees. Also, because you are working with people at the bottom of the social ladder most of the time, there were some really great parties.

Cons

Every day, wether working the front or back of the house you go home smelling like chicken and looking filthy.
