      Most Dehumanizing Experience Ever

      Plenty of overtime if you want it Good health insurance and wellness program Employee discounts on company products

      Cons

      I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Nepotism is rampant, and there is absolutely no room for advancement unless you have a certain last name. I was assaulted by a fellow employee, and management threatened to demote me when I brought it to their attention. Management is constantly hiring and promoting felons and drug offenders in the factory and warehouse. Mass firings around profit-sharing time and holidays, to avoid paying hard-earned bonuses and holiday pay. Floor supervisors are out of touch and will do anything to get their performance bonuses.

      Unfortunately we cannot go back and make corrections to this former employee's response. I can tell you that two months into my role at KLN that I have discovered a team of outstanding HR people who are dedicated to making a great experience for our employees. There have been many new roles added since this post which promote more professionalism care of our people. I am amazed at the generosity of the Nelson family and their positive impact to our communities our employees come from.

      Pros

      Trying to get to the next level - corporate. Being less family oriented. And BOF was just sold to Shearer's which should be a huge improvement for not only management but the line workers too!

      Cons

      Floor management is horrible. I was on the management team working night shift and I could not stand the high school level education of all the supervisors. They don't know anything about the lines. Would rather sit in the office in front of a computer or flirt with the female line workers. Pretty sad. If you want to build rapport with the workforce you need to learn the equipment, the products, the process, troubleshooting, etc... Hopefully Shearer's can bring a change for the better.

      I wasn't at KLN when this review was posted but we are making changes to better equip and enable our managers. As far as living increases, these have all been at least 3% in the recent history of KLN. The Nelson family contributes profit sharing checks to employees every quarter. In the past five years, KLN has averaged over $2 million per year in profit sharing to our employees. The year 2020 has also been a good year for profit sharing despite managing all the challenges with COVID-19.
