Pros

Some very smart, action oriented employees keeping this place afloat. Potential for good interaction and co-development with other WPP Divisions.

Cons

Fundamental trust issues with current management. Leadership when pushed by clients will resort to deep price concessions to retain business. Reflective of transactional nature of business. Underlying technology is outdated and company has been reluctant to invest. Increasingly core elements are outsourced leaving company vulnerable and morale very low. A very small percentage of panelists account for the vast majority of completes rendering data highly suspect on relevance and accuracy.

Terrible Environment

Pros

Work from home is probably the only pro. I guess also the fact that they won't fire anyone because they are stretched so thin

Cons

office culture/environment. The work is meticulous and gets old very fast. There is also an insane amount of work for employees because they are so understaffed. Management plays favorites a lot and you don't receive any recognition for hard work. The pay is low and the office location isn't desirable. Most of the people in management positions shouldn't be managing people. Employee turnover is also really high.

Pros

The work was incredibly interesting and the clients were pretty glamorous. A lot of consultancies work on industries such as pharma, healthcare, and financial services, which Vermeer does as well, but Vermeer has a wider range of more "fun" and differentiated clients. You can learn a lot if you apply yourself and ask the right questions.

Cons

The office politics are extremely toxic and the favoritism dictates nearly everything. Aggressive behavior is highly valued, and introverted leaders are scolded for not fitting the mold. Leadership is narcissistic and exploitative. Never in my life have I seen leaders act in such aggressive and condescending ways as I did at Vermeer. People are promoted really quickly, which can be great, but also means that people get promoted before they're ready (and it tends to go to their heads). The hours are pretty insane and random requests come at all times. I've never felt so underappreciated. I'd also say that some of the work and "insights" are stretched... As a client, I wouldn't be pleased with the details of the analytics and other processing that went into the deliverables.
