Not the Same Company Anymore

Pros

Not much left but some good, smart people. Remote. Ability to learn.

Cons

Kantata is unfortunately not the company it used to be. Morale is extremely low and the culture has become one of fear and uncertainty. Despite leadership’s statements that layoffs had ended, there continue to be silent, unannounced cuts. No one feels safe, even as the company insists it “puts people first.” Talented, hardworking colleagues, the kind of people you want to build with, have been let go. It has left the rest constantly wondering if they’ll be next. What makes this worse is that the CEO remains in place, and every time he speaks, it feels disingenuous. He doesn’t come across as a leader you can trust or rally behind to bring the company back to what it once was. Frankly, I don’t see how it will ever return to that. I used to recommend Kantata enthusiastically to anyone. It was a great place to work and I was proud to be here. Today, my advice would be the opposite: run and look elsewhere. There are still some great people left but the environment is toxic, and everyone is just hoping for change that doesn’t seem to be coming.

Poor Leadership

Pros

Talented coworkers, flexible remote work options, and some interesting challenges if you're early in your career.

Cons

My time at Kantata ended in a layoff, a predictable outcome given the company’s ongoing pattern of poor leadership and strategic confusion. While I worked with some exceptional teammates, the company’s executive leadership, especially under the current CEO, has been a consistent source of dysfunction. Kantata's current CEO tenure has been marked by vague vision, knee jerk pivots, and a lack of meaningful communication. There is little evidence of long-term planning or accountability at the top. Instead, employees are expected to deal with the fallout of haphazard decisions made behind closed doors. It’s difficult to overstate just how disconnected the executive team is from the day-to-day realities of the business. Kantata's CEO is, frankly, one of the most ineffective CEOs I’ve encountered. Under his leadership, the company has lost good people, eroded morale, and failed to define any clear path forward. The culture suffers because those in charge don’t seem to understand, or care, what it takes to build and sustain a healthy organization. If you're considering a role at Kantata, proceed with caution. The issues here aren’t isolated, they stem directly from the top, and until that changes, the problems will persist.

Pros

- great colleagues and middle management

Cons

- leadership is clueless and would rather implement silent layoffs 4-5x a year vs. address the root of the problem (product market fit)
