Pros

We empower students that would not be able to make it in a public higher education institution to reach their academic goals and show them how to market themselves to employers upon completing their program. Kaplan serves the students who are their customers and supports the students throughout their program track.

Cons

Rapid growth and acquisitions has led to many changes and restuctuting that has left behind some culture shock and morale issues both among faculty as well as among the students. The restucturing has also led to a lack of diversity in the upper levels of the campus that has been much discussed among the students who feel the lack of representation.

Pros

Kaplan Higher Education provides a great learning environment in the for-profit education sector. Kaplan has some great employee benefits like health, dental and vision care, Gift of Knowledge (discounted tuition at any company under the Kaplan, Inc. umbrella), matching 401k benefits and charitable donations.

Cons

Kaplan Higher Education needs to improve in the following areas. Employee recognition; employees at Kaplan often do not feel satisfied with the recognition received after completing projects or tasks. Career growth; although Kaplan does provide tools to achieve career performance goals (set by employees yearly), it seems rather difficult to “climb the corporate ladder” with only a bachelor’s degree.

Pros

Good initial training, interesting students. They also offer flexible scheduling and a good mix between classroom and tutoring. Also innovating in the online teaching space. Another benefit is the change to help future professionals and phd.

Cons

somewhat haphazard management, high turnover. Difficult to get good feedback consistently. Also the nature of certain classes is very different than others and there isn't always good preparation for the differences
