Pros

A great school to learn and improve as a teacher. You are surrounded by a highly motivated and creative staff of teachers, the best technology the industry has to offer and frequent paid training sessions focused on various aspects of the job, from using technology in the classrooms, to classroom management , to language focus. A big emphasis on career development.

Cons

When it's busy it can feel like you've been thrown in the deep end without much warning or support, but in these situations I felt that when I reached out for help I was listened to and taken seriously.

Pros

free tap water. There are washrooms that usually work.

Cons

- zero respect for teachers. If a student complains, you are out of the class. - the 'in-house' books are a joke - filled with mistakes, terrible pedagogy. It apparently was done by PhDs! Horrible. - will actually give 1 hour shifts. This should be illegal but is not. - Students get away with everything because Kaplan is only worried about getting good student surveys. This is true of all international schools but obsessively so at Kaplan. - Except for IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge classes, the classes are edutainment. - they use student 'interns' as free labour and exploit as much as they can. - zero opportunity to professional development of teachers - as such, teachers who have been there a long time are stuck in their ruts and would probably be unemployable at any other school. It is rather depressing to see long term teachers there - they somehow got stuck and never moved forward. It was a good motivation to get out. - Teachers got along pretty well but there were sometimes blowups and some extremely unprofessional behaviour.
