Company losing potential, employees, and money

Pros

Karius has solid science behind it if applied correctly and in proper business and commercial setting.

Cons

Very high rate of employee turnover - both voluntary and involuntary and at senior management level. Morale and confidence in survival of the company are very low. The testing process at current scale is expensive, with commercial growth stalled. The market is tough due to lack of reimbursement, high price, and lack of signficiant utility for patient care. Money will be running out by January 2019 with no additional investments coming through despite frantic fundraising attempts.

Pros

Karius is at the frontier of precision medicine in metagenomics. Team is growing. Stacy is working tirelessly to improve company culture and retention. Leaders have shown a willingness to learn from past and grow

Cons

Career development options within Karius are limited. Decisions sometimes made at exec level can leave employees feeling disempowered.

Sinking ship with inexperienced stewards

Pros

Extremely liberal vacation and work-from-home policies. Lots of freebies - food, snacks and parties.

Cons

Poor financial outlook. High employee turnover. Sales are very slow with lots of competition and there are inefficiencies in many teams. People in sales especially keep getting hired and fired rapidly and as soon as they bring up concerns about the product or management. Research studies are few and without solid data. Management is not open to feedback from employees or customers.
