Pros

A well-respected industry leader that is a top player in the U.S. and global market. Stable and seasoned senior leadership team that is savvy and represents a great deal of industry expertise collectively. Kelly Services is fairly conservative financially which has helped the company provide a good amount of stability during the recent recession and avoid mass layoffs. Personally, I have had supportive, kind, and helpful managers that have trusted me to perform my role without unnecessary interference or micro management. Although the industry overall is not known for high salaries, KS has been fairly generous in my experience. After eight years, I also am eligible for a good amount of vacation time with a package of holidays, personal days, and vacation days that adds up to 6-7 weeks a year.

Cons

Very limited opportunities for new positions. Because I am not willing to move from the area, this narrows down the number of possible opportunities for new positions and advancements a lot. And so far, it's been impossible for me to break into new internal divisions. Although I perform my current responsibilities very well, there are certain things I lack experience in because they are not part of my current role. But I cannot gain experience in these other areas because I've never been given the opportunity to do so. So it's a catch 22. One other "con" that I've experienced.... KS's internal processes and technology lags behind that of more innovative and tech-savvy competitors. For years we have stayed with antiquated systems and processes that don't provide certain functionality that would help us work more efficiently and faster. Incremental improvements have been made, but these have been very slow in coming online and are still a more piece-meal approach. Decisions about internal processes and technologies are made without really consulting with, or considering, their impacts on field staff.
