Great for those capable of wearing many hats
Pros
- Kepler is full of doers, not talkers. This is a huge benefit for people who enjoy doing and not talking. - People who work here are smart AND kind, a rare combination. This holds true from Analysts through the CEO. - We have a diverse portfolio of clients, which results in a healthy variety of tasks. - Management is not biased toward specific tools, so you're free to implement your solutions in your language / platform of choice. - We build databases from scratch, which is invaluable experience for anyone interested in data. - Work/life balance is much better than average (for the agencies and other). Management really respects your weekends, evenings, and personal commitments. - Environment is quite collaborative; I haven't witnessed politicking of any kind. - Kepler is currently generous with vacation / time off (unlimited vacation, and there are no hidden expectations not to take it like at other start-ups), which is QUITE the perk. - Pay is fair to good to great, depending on your role and tenure. - We aren't VC funded, so there's no constant push to churn short-sighted profits.
Cons
- There is still a lack of understanding between the media and database/analytics side of the business. This may be unavoidable because the nature of work is quite different. - Promotions are a bit opaque beyond the Senior Analyst level. - The work, while quite interesting, ultimately involves serving digital advertisements. If you are morally opposed to this sort of browsing intrusion, it can be hard to separate your day-to-day tasks from their impact. - Very little equity has been extended to anybody outside of the original founders (and I don't even know what stake they have). Therefore, few are personally tied to company performance outside of their bonuses/salaries. - We aren't VC funded, so there are few in-office perks.
