Pros

The pay is very decent coming out of college, and the job security is excellent. Keyence built a company that continually grows and out performs years past. Working for a company like this allows you to have peace of mind as long as you’re performing. The medical benefits and PTO are also really excellent. The customers and industries we work with make for an interesting work day generally. Keyence looks great on a resume so it’s easy to get a better and higher paying job after a year or two

Cons

Micromanagement can get old fast. You could be excelling in 19 out of 20 areas but if there is 1 area you aren’t as strong in they will constantly harp on it. This makes it hard to feel good about your overall performance even if you’re doing well. How one receives a promotion is very obscure and the performance reviews occur late into the new quarter so it’s hard to know what you need to improve upon. Communication can be a big issue from the top down, as there are a lot of managers who are great at selling, but utterly lack in the ability to manage people. Certain divisions are better than others and certain geographical areas are far far better than others. This leads to those who are in better divisions making far more money for less work. This also allows those who have good geographic areas to get promoted more quickly, simply because they can sell more as a result of the better territory.

Pros

Good base pay for starting right out of college. They also have the best onboarding process I have been through and are very diligent about training their sales people and supporting them to be successful.

Cons

This is very much a sales position with little to no actual engineering. If you are interested in sales, this is a great place to start. If you are interested in a more technical or engineering position this will most likely not be the best job option. On the sales side, if you receive a territory that is "underdeveloped" then it will be very difficult to succeed in this position. Keyence is very established so the bulk of your sales in your territory each quarter will come from existing customers. If a territory has a low sales performance (i.e. "underdeveloped") then you will most likely not consistently succeed in hitting your goal.

Pros

Pay is good, Sales database and process is very organized and makes the job easy,

Cons

Work/Life balance can be tough, lots of travel. Promotions and evaluations are very obscure and difficult to understand. Pressure to sell and perform are constant. Some Keyence products are not good.
