Pros

Great training program, generous pay for recent college grads, heavy investment by management into development of new employees, peer mentorship program, fun office environment, small local team, strong sales support team, clear promotion tracks, unbiased performance evaluations

Cons

Relatively rigid performance metrics, although nothing radically different from any other sales job. They only promote internally, which can lead to a smaller leadership pool (although improves your own odds of promotion). Cold calling obviously sucks.

Pros

Overall compensation is great. Training was great, coming from someone with zero engineering background I was able to conceptualize everything and sell comfortably.

Cons

Micromanagement at its core. For someone not entirely interested in automation and production, I could not have been less interested in day-to-day happenings and new products etc. That's a fundamental error on my end for taking the job, but I'm mainly posting this for new-grads so they don't make the same mistake and get overwhelmed with the pay, which seems like a lot at that age. But the reality is, I looked around my office and couldn't see myself advancing much further in terms of career, comp, and personal growth. Do what you want! Take a low paying job right out of school in the industry you like and work your butt off. If this is your industry of choice, go for it! Way more rewarding, don't ever settle.

Pros

The starting salary for college grads is higher than your average "entry level" position. The products are top of the line, and in the right territory you can do well and get promoted quickly.

Cons

The quality of your job is going to vary DRASTICALLY depending on your territory and manager. In a good territory your schedule can be easily set with limited cold calling and travel time. Lots of good short term sales opportunities will come your way. Keyence highly rewards reps in these situations. On the flip side, if you're placed in a difficult territory, expect to be making 100+ cold calls on office days. You'll be driving a ton. I cannot stress the miles you will put on your car chasing low opportunity sales calls just to meet bare bone expectations. Sales will come a lot slower. Expect a lot of frustrating weeks that result in 0 sales opportunities. You're going to be putting in a lot more effort than other reps and getting paid A LOT less to do more work.
