      Generally Good Company, Has Serious Flaws

      Pros

      Lots of opportunity to experience different areas across the company to suite your interest or personal development goals. Generally supportive of work/life balance. Good overall benefits and pay, although not market leading.

      Cons

      While they are trying to drive to more innovation and risk tolerance, it will be a long road for this stodgy company. There is limited upward mobility given "Old Boy Network" culture as well ... If there is an open advancement opportunity it is typically already given to someone in the "network", even if requisitions are posted and even if that person is not qualified.

      Reputation of prior companies, ie Agilent and HP.

      Cons

      Definately a poor transition for a second time for the original part of HP. Management top to bottom unsure what to do next.

      Pros

      Great high tech engineering corporation. World leader in test and measurement. Worldwide opportunities, get to work with global teams. Laid back and open door culture. Cool products.

      Cons

      For business jobs it seems like you are just a number. Lots of changes going on since the split. Difficult for a raise or promotion that you have earned. Difficult for many jobs to be able to travel to other locations and learn about the company and work on projects/assignments. A lot of employees are very quiet, and a little socially awkward. Difficult to say hi to someone walking in the hallways unless you know them from working with them or helping them. No real opportunities to learn about the products unless you are an engineer/designer etc. Fairly "old" company, people set in their ways. Hard to change. Not too many young professionals. Most jobs are stressful.
