      Pros

      The name. In the construction world you can go anywhere with a few years of Kiewit on your resume. The training opportunities are world class. They make sure you know what you are doing before they cut you lose to screw up their jobs. Number one thing at Kiewit is building a quality project a the maximum level of profitability.

      Cons

      Moving. This is the only thing that makes me think I will ever leave. You don't have an opportunity to settle into one place for too long before you have to pick up and chase the next high dollar project in another city.

      Great Benefit Package Great Opportunity for Travel

      Cons

      Have worked at Kiewit for 3.5 years. Was hired at 40 hours per week. Continually pressured to work longer hours. Recently was told hours are now 50 plus--no exceptions. I am a wife and mother. I work to live, I do not live to work. I am enraged that the company lies to entice prospective employees. I would have never quit my 40 hour a week job to work for Kiewit if they were honest of the expectations.

      Pros

      Great opportunities - the company takes on the most difficult projects and accomplishes near impossible tasks. Decent benefits - the starting wages and insurance packages are sufficient without much other support.

      Cons

      Extremely long hours - expect to work from 5 or 6 am to 7 or 8 pm. Extremely long weeks - expect to work on nearly all Saturdays and most Sundays. Harsh environment - expect to be setup to fail and the harshly criticized by management and peers. Distant locales - expect to move, every year, to another state. Marry your work - expect to have marital issues and lack of connections to people outside of work. (but don't despair, you can marry within the company among your subordinates!)
