The "culture" was a little overwhelming, I'd say it's more like brainwashing. There are rules and procedures for EVERYTHING. Can I get a job number for filing out my expense report?...because that just took 45 minutes! The hardest part of the job for me was to listen to the senior staff in the office say one thing and watch them do another.
Bonuses are paid in part based upon your total number of hours "worked." It's not uncommon for some employees to pad their timesheets in order to beef up their year end totals. Always fun to be around others who play by the rules. I watched many employees show up late, leave early, conduct personal business throughout the day, or gab in the hallway only to notice at the end of the period that they magically "worked" 60 hour weeks.
There is a stong emphasis on not only meeting goals but exceeding them. That's nice and vague. "If you want the minimum to be 37 pieces of flair, make the minimum 37 pieces of flair." I never missed my goals but I did see others suffer for not exceeding theirs by a large enough margin. Your bonus is also dependent on the performance of the office and the region. Although one year when it was apparent that the office was not going to make their goals, management simply scaled the goals back...the office missed them anyway.
Like the title says, the pay was great, but in retrospect I'd rather have my 20's back.
