Pros

Company always looking for a ways to expand is now the number one pipeline company in the US. Wage is middle of the road. Benefits are OK.

Cons

Bonus are bad they say they are based on performance and other factors they have never been performance driven everyone gets the same bonus at the field level. Dont get me wrong at least we get a bonus but when the CEO gives his speeches at least practice what you preach. Raises are always under 3% no mater how well the company does. Company does better every year but they keep taking things away we used to get stock options....not anymore and used to be able to purchase stock at a discount.....no more. Those are just a few examples. The company bought Elpaso recently but by the looks of the new structure you would think kindermorgan was the one who was purchased. First line supervision needs to get paid more you can make more money in the crew by working a little overtime there is no incentive to move up.

Pros

Cost vs benefit methodology is used for project approval.

Cons

The methods used to determine the benefit of projects are too heavily weighted on immediate (today) benefits. My opinion is that many of these types of evaluations will cost them dearly in the long run.

Pros

Kinder Morgan's policy of fiscal responsibility is the leading reason why they are such a stable company. The management has a no-nonsense attitude that is refreshing. Kinder Morgan is large enough to provide good benefits while still small enough to avoid feeling like a number. The employees are generally friendly and team-oriented.

Cons

Kinder Morgan takes frugality a little far sometimes. This can be frustrating because it seems to be a hit or miss attitude and they sometimes choose to cut costs in areas where it does not seem wise or impactful. The company is a little quirky due to the personalities in upper management, but overall it is a great place to work. I would definitely consider working there in the future.
