Pros

- Growing - the Klein family and leadership team is committed to investing in growing the business, especially through new product development. Company growth creates lots of career opportunities. - Financial health - Klein Tools is conservatively managed from a financial standpoint with very little debt, which enables aggressive investment in people, R&D, and cutting edge manufacturing processes. - Mindset - Klein thinks long term and strives to avoid sacrificing long term value for short term results. Klein is very customer focused, their #2 value after Quality is "Customer Obsession." - Intense - Klein is committed to winning as a team and beating it's competition day in and day out by exceeding customer needs. - Improving- In just the past year Klein leadership has improved communication and taken a much larger interest in engaging employees. Leadership started holding town halls, published its values, and has been listening to employees more - making little improvements around the office such as adding water filters etc.

Cons

-Communication - I did not give Klein five stars because communication from leadership can be improved. Klein has made strides in this area recently, holding town hall meetings a few times a year starting a year ago and publishing its Values as well in the past year. - Intense - I'm listing this as a con as well since Klein is not for everyone. Don't be fooled by the cushy "family" owned business appearance. Klein is not a place where you can get a job and then fog up the mirror. Klein is obsessed with winning and expects everyone on the team to contribute with a strong sense of urgency. - Candid- this can be a pro or a con depending on how you look at it. Like my last point, Klein is not for everybody. Klein employees and leadership tend to cut to the chase and don't beat around the bush much.

Undervalue the human resource. Middle management lacks experience.

Pros

In general most front line supervisors and lower level coworkers are good to deal with. Some middle management lacks knowledge and leadership skills.

Cons

Lack of leadership form middle management what they say is what it is even though they have no clue in what their doing. Too many smoke screens and nothing gets solved. Finger pointing within departments, between departments and plants, and nothing gets fixed. They promote people to management positions with degrees rather than the experience to be managers. Stop trying to make engineers into managers when they lack leadership experience. They treat employees like they treat machines. They take too long to get rid of the bad apples.
