Pros

I truly feel like I am in control of my destiny at KBS. You are granted significant latitude to improve how work is done, and are rewarded and recognized for it with the right leaders in place (although this is inconsistent but improving). High levels of initiative will see you go far. If you just want to collect a paycheck you can, but don't expect any recognition for just doing what you are paid to do. Fast paced, rapid growth, for highly motivated individuals. Good compensation, not bad benefits. MBM is a good (and consistent) way to run an efficient company which keeps expectations for performance and vision easily aligned.

Cons

Challenge of the Role: A company this size with so many competing I.T. interests internally can be difficult to manage - Attempts are made to minimize bureaucracy but not always effective. Speed of change for our customers is very fast, and can be difficult to wrangle without corporate sponsorship. Challenge of the Company: Growth in aspirations does not seem to match speed of obtaining (or recognizing need for)talent.

Pros

KBS has a good Koch culture with a strong emphasis on values and beliefs. The organization allows and encourages movement between groups so your career is not limited to a specific function. Koch is a very financial solid company with plans to continue the significant we have experienced over the past few years.

Cons

Koch has high standards for performance and KBS is a fast paced environment. It is not for everyone, but it is very satisfying for those who perform well in this service focused environment.

Values Driven Company

Pros

KBS shares the same core culture and values as all other Koch companies. Koch has demonstrated a long term commitment to its winning culture, which is not defined by slogans or swayed by popular trends. It is rewarding to work for a Koch company that operates in support of an organization that consistently outperforms the market and continues to grow despite weak economic conditions. While some companies may work their employees to death during periods of rapid growth, KBS maintains an environment where work-life balance can be achieved. For example, there is recognition that assigning a significant project workload to employees consumed by critical operational responsibilities is a flawed. Koch growth has provided me with more growth opportunity than I could have imagined. Market competitive pay and benefits make it all about job fulfillment.

Cons

Large IT environments, including Koch, commonly have employees with narrow, albeit deep, skills. This can lead to individuals or teams being reluctant to operating outside of their defined boundaries when it is necessary. It can also be challenging for an organization of this size and scale to be in sync down to the individual level.
