Pros

There are well defined career paths. This makes it very simply to look at where you are and tell where you could be in a couple of years. They are not adverse to using newer technologies, but do not live on the bleeding edge. This tends to mean the tools you work with are newer but stable.

Cons

Overly compartmentalized departments make it difficult to work on projects without involving a large number of groups. This can be a bit cumbersome when working on smaller projects.

Pros

- Discount - You can "stack" discounts that customers can't... like a 15% off email coupon in addition to 15% off associate discount - Schedule is given roughly two weeks at a time - Co-workers - Most of my co-workers were really friendly

Cons

- Low pay - It took me over a year to get a raise, and they kept delaying the reviews process so it took even longer than it should have. - Discount - You can only pay with cash, check, or gift card if you don't have a Kohl's Charge. - Schedule - Most of the time you get screwed. Definitely don't try working two jobs while you work at Kohl's. They try to be flexible, but they hire so many employees that it's impossible. Which leads me to.... - An absurd amount of employees - Turnover is really high, so there are new employees in and out regularly. But they don't hesitate to have over 100 employees on staff. - Expectations - I'm not sure what other word to use here. They talk and talk and talk about how they have such high expectations for the store's recovery at the end of the night, but they're okay with leaving it looking like crap. They also have no real standards, so I was busting my butt when I started and people who worked there longer were lazy. Eventually I just quit trying so hard because I knew it wasn't getting me anywhere... other than to a nut house. - Co-workers - If you come in there and you work hard and get stuff done, expect that some of the associates who have been in the store longer will talk crap about you. Apparently doing your job means you think you're "high and mighty". - Credit - My God, you get hounded every day. You're supposed to magically sell credit even if you're working on the floor and never end up on register. In the year and a half that I worked there, I only got ONE credit sale on the floor. If you work POS, you're definitely in for a treat, too. Watch your more "seasoned" co-workers. They will use tactics that are technically considered "against policy," such as giving the discount to customers just for applying for a charge card, when really they're only supposed to get the discount if they are approved. - Management - They will be terrible to you. No doubt about it. If you're not getting credit, they don't like you. Really, I could go on and on, but I'll spare you.
