Pros

clean new stores to come to work in variety of products to bring in good consumer base locations across midwest, CA, FL, east coast, and growing

Cons

no bonus for ASM's, we earn the GM their bonus DM's force ASM's to work 70+ hrs per week opening stores, no personal life until 'after open', threatened with jobs often, unfortunately the 'after open' scenario never materializes most management is turned and burned within 18 months

Pros

Job security--it's a big company that will be around for awhile and is a good resume builder. Also once you reach planner or above, there are annual bonuses worth up to 30% of you total pay. Stock options are given at the AB level and above as well. Also healthcare, there is an on site wellness center that is incredibly cheap ($10 per visit even without insurance) for all family members.

Cons

job security--some people should be fired but aren't. Also this company is nearly TOO big, and is getting slower and slower as far as execution of decisions and good decisions have to go through too many filters. Kohls is a solidly built ship, but hard to steer in the right direction.

Pros

Growing company that does not lay off people during tough times. At corporate there are opportunities for advancement as the company continues to add stores. The company is open to letting people explore other areas within the organization so you aren't "boxed in" to one career path.

Cons

Senior management can be old school and often fail to understand how their decisions impact others throughout the organization. And while there is advancement within the organization, the first layer they add is at the senior management level. This makes it more difficult for lower level managers to do their jobs as senior management tends to micromanage and fail to understand the workload this creates for their direct reports.
