Pros

Kohl's is a successful company, one of the few companies to comp last year, so you know you have job security, plus they are great about when the economy dropped, no one's job was eliminated. They use attrition, they don't fire. Great benefits, well-structured, good merchandise and products, great associate discount that you can combine with your Kohl's charge discount

Cons

Salary is not great, probably competitive but not outstanding. Serious push to get credit, all the time. Sometimes lack of communication or incorrect information from corporate. VERY TIRED OF THE MUSIC! 3 years now and playing the same songs.

Pros

The pay was somewhat decent.

Cons

The pay was not decent for the amount of that had to be done. I was always the only working behind the desk and had to do 5 things at once such as answering calls, returning items, cleaning up the area, searching for items in stores, and being put on hold while be demanded that I return items at the same time and reticketing items. SO much work for one person.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are consistent with field.

Cons

Absolutely no work-life balance. Schedule each week reflects 45 hour work week, but realistically is closer to 60. 12-16 hour days are standard fare. Working on days off is also expected (especially in preparation for the never-ending threats of store visits by executives who never come) . Training and Development of Assistant Managers is virtually non-existent. Store Managers receive bonuses up to 30% of their annual salaries while working less than ASM's . ASM's get no bonus. SM's are also eligible for additional bonuses throughout the year which ASM's are excluded from. The sad thing is that the local job market is tapped out and opportunities are scarce - and the folks holding the purse strings know it.
