Pros

- Great flexibility - allowance of up to 12 "call off" days during the year. - Laid-back management style, mostly understanding of personal issues. - A real "team" feeling about the place. -Decent employee discount (10% hard lines, 15% soft lines, occasionally a 30% special promotion for store performance) on top of Kohl's charge discount or other offers.

Cons

- Management has "favorites" ; this can not be escaped. - Generally, the store manager(s) seems discounted from all but the assistant store managers socially and professionally, they are on conference calls all day, or just don't care. - Assistance store mangers don't really care about an employee's department unless the district or regional manager is visiting. But when they do visit, they become perfectionist of the highest order. - Work hours are dependent on the market. Some weeks you may get 28 hours, some you may get 6. The margins are so thin at kohl's that if the customer isn't buying, chances are you aren't working. - At times, you may be forced to work multiple departments, up to 3 (ex. shoes, home, kids) because of limited hours. - Corporate is relentless in it's push for credit applications. Although there is no stated amount you are required to get (because, unless there is a special promotion, there are NO commissions at kohl's), the management pushes the solicitations of credit card applications on you consistently. - You do not exist to corporate, your only interaction with them is through the managers.
