Pros

Small discount on merchandise Clean atmosphere Work is indoors, Heat and Air Conditioning Good retail experience, along with learning how to talk to people

Cons

Poor 'incentive' to get kohl's credit cards Employee 'incentive' system was very unfair for a majority of employees. Employees that management thought had the most credit card getting potential benefited and not necessarily the hardest workers) Store would not admit to it but hours are based on how many credit cards you successfully solicit on a weekly basis. Over-praised if you get credit cards (sort of how you would treat a 4 year old if they did something right) Constantly hear about complaints from supervisors (made by customers) and not a single praise (unless it's credit card related) Constantly badgered about 'getting credits and e-mails Supervisors played favorites No clear communication between supervisors, one would tell you to do something and you would be reprimanded by another for following orders. Supervisors are 'write-up happy', Was written up for saying the word 'underwear'. Supervisors would make excuses for why you cannot get more hours, It didn't matter if you begged on your hands or knees or had any kind of sob story it all depended on the credit cards. Have been yelled at by supervisors in front of customers Breaks were unscheduled and they would usually want me to take my sometimes only break about 30 minutes into work Store sound track repeats every 30-40 minutes Will not give a recommendation if a future employer calls, they try to make the employer pay for a recommendation. I have lost a few job opportunities because they would not give a reccomendation.

Pros

Decent salary and decent benefits.

Cons

If you are looking for a picture of company politics... this is it. Senior management is unfit to run the business. Your performance, background, education, and experience are worthless unless you are liked by senior management, which in most cases means following their unethical ways. If you call out their poor practices or point out areas of improvement you get chastised and there is some serious retaliation. It is a company where talent is not appreciated because those that are on senior level positions are too insecure and afraid that new ideas and new talent will replace them. Watch out for some serious discrimination, diversity is definitively not this company's forte.

Pros

Clean, courteous treatment of customers, ability of associates to make concessions for customers without summoning management to do what one knows will be done anyhow. Two in line policy is nice, especially when you consider how long one spends in line in other stores waiting to check out.

Cons

Age, no matter the words used to dance around it, is a determining factor for moving ahead.
