Pros

Kohl's gives back to the communities in which they are present and as a member of the company you play a first hand role in giving back to local organizations and charities. 3 weeks paid vacation in your first year, 6 paid holidays. The company continues to grow while other retailers scale back- particularly rival department store chains such as Macy's and Bon-Ton. Although scaled back from previous years there are still plans to open over 25 new stores in 2009 and continued remodels of exhisting stores. Kohl's will have a presence in 49 states with the opening of locations in Alaska in 2009 and have over 1,000 stores nationwide and are continuing to grow. Projections for growth on the west course are high, particularly in the California market.

Cons

It is retail so there are long hours and 6 days per week from Thanksgiving through Christmas. However, you are compensated for those extra 5 days (1 day per week) by being given 5 extra vacation days the following year. Typical hours worked in a week will be 40-45 during non-peak times but can easily reach 70 hours a week during the busy times. In all honesty it is a company you feel good about working for and are excited to go to work. If you can handle the ever changing hours (days then nights, weekends etc) that are present in any retailer, Kohl's is a place you can feel comfortable having a career and looking forward to growing.

Pros

part time associates did earn personal days and ESOP

Cons

did not care abjout employees or customers; Managers would always treat regular associates as if they were only there to take advantage of them; store systems would constantly change; it always felts as if the company was brand new and tried out every kind system to see if they worked.

Pros

Discounts and close to home

Cons

They have gone past tightening the belt, and are eating away at the muscle. They push you to be available 7 days a week, 18 hours a day, but when the schedules come out many part-timers are often only getting around 10 hours, often less. They want to pay poverty wages, yet have you devote your life to them.
