Pros

The ONLY good thing about working at Kohl's is on certain days, they have fun things to do. Crafts, cookies and cocoa, donut day, hat day, but they only do this so they can pride themselves on being a fun working environment.

Cons

Where to start... the management is awful. They are either lazy and sit in their office all day, or they micromanage what you do your entire shift. It's easy to get on the bad side of a manager, and I've had one humiliate me in front customers before when making a mistake on the register, when I was barely trained. (Training is another Con. It sucks) The managers have favorites and it's very obvious and rather disheartening when you shop in the store on a day off, and the managers look at you with distaste. They like to keep the store understaffed so you're over 5 departments, and give you 6 hour and 45 minute shifts, so instead of a meal and a 15, you get a 20 for your whole shift. And because the store is understaffed all the time, they'll call you back to work after 11 minutes because it's not illegal. You can't have drinks on the floor, so you have to sneak them so you don't pass out or have to take your break too early. You'll ask them 7 times for your break over the walkie within two hours, and they'll ignore you until its technically too late to take it (30-45 mins before your shift ends) and then they'll fuss at you where everyone can hear about waiting too late to ask and not giving it to you. So some shifts I wouldn't even get a break. They will yell at you for the direction you're folding. For talking to another coworker in your department while you're both working. Anything. I've had some of the worst customers and the managers lose their spines when the customer threatens to call corporate when they can't buy a $200 razor for $24.99 and use 5 percent off discounts. Which is against policy. Everyone hates their life at Kohl's. Don't work here unless you absolutely have to. It sucks.

Pros

Lots of hours, usually occupied so it isn't boring, opportunity to be trained in many areas of sales

Cons

Management was sometimes rude and way too driven by selling credit cards. They push it so hard that people get angry. They also all had different opinions on how you should do your job so it was hard to know what to expect shift to shift. The pay was as low as legally possible and the incentive of 50 cents for every credit card opened was horrible... It was difficult to get people to open a card and we only get 50 cents? Also most of the workers were middle aged/elderly and did nothing but complain.

Pros

They are flexible with scheduling. Match 5% for 401k. After 9 years I currently get 5 weeks of paid vacation per year.

Cons

You are required to work all major holidays. There is no opportunity for commission . Though schedule is flexible workload is high and usually requires extra time put in at work to meet workload
