Politics and Shows

Pros

Family like environment, flexible hours

Cons

Kohler has always had some internal politics, but the current level is unprecedented. Distinct factions among C-level executives, particularly those with UK influence, are only hiring their own and attempting to dominate specific organizational functions. Different functions compete for David Kohler’s favored projects to gain favor with the Kohlers, but the issue is that some leaders misrepresent project statuses, exaggerate technological possibilities, or even redo work solely to claim credit. These leaders prioritize appearances over actual development, focusing on impressing David Kohler rather than driving meaningful progress. The R&D leader, particularly in the design function, lacks professional expertise and focuses on winning design awards or securing publications rather than perfecting the design or development, or even aligning with other executives. As a result, numerous projects have been canceled, yet these leaders gaslight their staff, claiming their work was adequate while blaming other functions for failures. Staff members are constantly complaining, trapped in a cycle of being sacrificed in these meaningless conflicts.

Engines Business

Business Outlook

Pros

Relaxed Environment, Decent Pay, Interesting Work, Generators Division is Growing

Cons

Engines division has no concrete guidance. Technical knowledge is highly lacking in upper management. Outsourcing of components is heavily emphasized and there is no desire to invest in critical processes or keep manufacturing internal. There is no trust between engineering and upper management, so resources are incorrectly distributed and outside advisors are frequently brought in. No good has come of outside advice due to the extreme complexity of the business and product. Lots of emphasis on lean principles, no attention to maintenance or technical needs. Many new leaders have no experience in engines or other highly technical manufacturers, so they cannot realize the true needs of the business or have a meaningful impact. Due to lack of trust, attention, and communication, many critical people have left and now the business is bleeding.
