Pros

Flexible scheduling Most schools are grateful to have subs Little to no planning involved

Cons

Some schools are more strict than others (wanting students to be working 24/7 or not wanting students standing up) Some schools are a 25-27 minute commute

Pros

1. Kokua Education has been a wonderful partner in helping me do what I care about most—supporting students in a safe, structured classroom where learning can thrive. As a teacher, I’ve always felt that Kokua understands the importance of both student success and educator well-being. 2. They provide excellent guidance for new substitutes and stay in regular contact to make sure you feel prepared, supported, and valued. Whenever I’ve needed assistance, their team has responded quickly and with care. The hiring process was also smooth and efficient, allowing me to focus less on logistics and more on teaching. 3. Overall, Kokua makes it possible to walk into the classroom confident and ready to give students the best experience possible.

Cons

1. The two-workday per week requirement can be a juggling act unless one wishes to work a few days per week. 2. The app doesn't always sync with scheduled jobs so one may receive texts/robo calls that are ultimately ignored. 3. The no-touch policy is great, however, not all students can be mindful, think SpEd scholars here. 4. Some campuses provide restroom/classroom/building keys for subs, many do not. 4. Lastly, the proposed grade level one will guest teach can be as dynamic as the lesson plans left behind.
