Pros

I've been here for a couple of months. Biggest pro is the conviction every employee has in the product and mission - this makes it a genuinely positive place to work. Genuinely flexible working and supportive environment. Plenty of interesting and meaningful work. Kraken is a high-tech forward thinking company, and the work reflects it. Excellent and highly intelligent people to learn from. A large cohort of the existing employees complain about the changing culture (i.e. becoming more corporate), but this is the best place I have worked in my career so far. Kraken believes in developing it's people and there are many cases of people being promoted from junior up to department leadership. Good pay and benefits. Amazing office.

Cons

A lot of passing the buck to different teams - people can be immature in taking accountability. Similarly, there is a lack of confidence, where people sometimes ask multiple times to confirm a point. This is not specifically a con because it's out of wanting to do the right thing but it can make getting things done complicated. There is a large amount of nepotism in senior leadership, but the senior leadership team seem competent. No HR - managers play the HR function too - this is only okay if your manager is a good leader. The structure is quite flat which can be good in theory but multiple business areas have a "multiple managers" issue.

Ambitious, supportive, genuinely striving to embody a 'no-blame' culture.

Cons

Growth ambitions lead to unskilled managers. Micromanagement. General chaos.

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. It's great to hear that you've experienced the supportive culture and no-blame mindset that we work hard to build at Kraken. Creating an environment where people feel trusted, supported and empowered to learn is incredibly important to us. We're also aware that there’s always room to improve. We're growing rapidly to meet increasing demand from our customers, and with that growth comes change, complexity and, at times, growing pains. While that can occasionally feel chaotic, we're committed to learning, adapting and improving as we scale. Developing exceptional leaders is also a key focus for us. We're investing in this through initiatives like our Leadership Development Programme (LDP), which helps managers build the skills, confidence and self-awareness needed to support their teams. As a business, we're learning together and continuously evolving how we lead, communicate and collaborate. If you'd like to discuss your experience in more detail, please feel free to reach out directly, share feedback through Officevibe, or use Your Voice in HiBob. Thanks again for your review and for helping us get better. Best, Susanna
