Many Red Flags in IT

Recommend

Pros

The pay was good, benefits were okay (almost every year it got worse, except 2023). There are a lot of great people employed here, however, they are stretched thin and incapable of performing at their best because of this.

Cons

- The IT Organization has been under a hiring freeze for the last 1-2 years. If someone leaves they are not replaced. - Most departments within IT are understaffed and struggling. - When I asked about transferring to a struggling department(s) (where I was told I was a shoo-in) I was told that wasn't possible due to the hiring freeze. I was part of a layoff of roughly 30 members of a department within IT. Most of us would have strived in a different function. All that to say, there are MANY red flags that individuals in IT and possibly other support organizations of L3Harris should be cognizant of. I think layoffs will continue in the IT organization under its current leadership.

Pros

1. Great Flex Ability 2. Up to 160 Hours of PTO approval at first level supervisor, 200 Hours of PTO approval at second level supervisor 3. Unlimited (40 hours is the guideline though) of Sick Time, no doctor's note required

Cons

1. No matter how much harder you work than the people around you in similar positions, you will get no more than 0.5% additional raise at the end of the year and promotions are based purely on time at the company rather than skill set. 2. No set promotion cycle, at one point a promotion cycle did not occur for several quarters. 3. Engineers hired from outside the company (and new college graduates) are often given salaries 10%+ higher than a current employee. 4. Hard work is punished with positions that allow limited PTO windows.

Great benefits, toxic work environment

Pros

Decent pay, good benefits, some good people

Cons

Where to begin. Someone prior mentioned frat boy attitudes, I'd say good ol boy attitudes. Toxic work environment with the blind leading the blind. No investment in their employees or technology which is why they were priced out of work. After 11 years was pushed out by a toxic employee who talked about EVERYONE, putting others down, mocking them. What a nightmare a decent work place was turned into and they allowed it. I'm currently happily employed with company who actually cares and the pay is higher. They invest in our education and their technology. Shaking my head.....
