      Rapidly growing organization in the highly competitive defense industry

      Pros

      L3Harris has been growing rapidly following their recent merger (L3 and Harris), and the maturation of the organization has allowed stellar performers to fill in many of the new gaps, resulting in multiple internal promotion opportunities. The senior level teams leading the integration of the company have been driving nearly all of the organizational process/policy decisions down to the individual site functional managers for review and input, and this has allowed for significant buy in with the new processes/policies prior to their initial release. This bottoms-up flow of recommendations and ideas has made the transition feel very smooth and well received by the individual employees.

      Cons

      With any merger there are bound to be some changes that do not sit well with others. The change in healthcare providers away from Kaiser Permanente was the most loudspoken disgruntlement among the employees. While that did not affect me personally, I have been more concerned with the very rapid movement of leaders at the site manager and above level. Now that the merger has been going on for a year, I would like to see more stability among the senior managers to help solidify all the changes that have occurred. The other point I take issue with is the confusion surrounding roles and responsibilities and the boundary between a Program Manager and a Project Engineer. Both have responsibilities that they own but which they have no authority to affect in our current organization (i.e. Project Engineer is the main owner of the schedule and task driver, but the Schedulers report directly to the Program Manageme.nt Office)

      Pros

      Working at L3Harris for the last twenty years has been a high point in my career. There are opportunities for advancement and the corporate atmosphere is inclusive for everyone. There are no barriers to how far you can advance your career. Benefits are among the best including insurance and personal time off. Accepting my position 20 years ago was the bese decision I have ver made.. Each business unit is appropriately sized so that each location feels like family. It is a pleasure to go to work.

      Cons

      We have a tremendous amount of work, so there is little down time. Technology is a part of the name, so every business unit is literally on the cutting edge of the latest technology which can be difficult to keep up with at times. The company relies heavily on employee training to assure compliance with strict government rules.
