Pros

Really nice patients. I love geriatrics.

Cons

Management does not care about you or your patients. They will bleed you dry with 13-14 hour days and still complain you’re not meeting productivity standards. Poor morale and an amazing amount of turn over. In 8 1/2 months there, the ENTIRE office staff have turned over, and nurses and therapists are known to quit after only a few months. They post more and more edicts such as call all your patients to schedule by 6 pm, and when you say you’re not done seeing patients until 6:30 or 7, they tell you to stop and schedule it in. The myth that you make good money doing home health is just that- a myth. When you do the math, it’s about $10/hr less. You can work 50-60 hours and they will still nag you about your productivity points. If you complain you can’t see 8-9 patients, they will tell you you are not making your points and should expect busier days. God they are horrible.

Pros

There is literally no pros this job. I would rather be unemployed than work here.

Cons

I worked in the Colorado area for LHC group and would strongly advise you to work elsewhere. The new management that took over about a year ago has successfully driven out many good nurses and therapists simply because they stated disagreements with her. No one feels comfortable giving any sort of feedback to this director because she acts in retaliation. I have seen this happen to a good coworker of mine. After this person disagreed with the director, the next day her schedule was cleared and she was told she was being let go because of low caseload which wasn't the case at all!! She is manipulative, cunning and hateful with narcissistic tendencies. She is mean. I've never worked for someone like this and it has been toxic. I've been asked to fudge my Oasis scores on patients to make it look like they've "improved" at the end of episode. If I don't do it, I'm called into the office and threatened disciplinary action. My skills as a clinician have been questioned and I've been asked to provide certain services to patients that I'm not qualified to do or don't feel comfortable doing. There is no repercussions for this director's actions, corporate/higher management do not care based on their lack of follow through with any complaints given of her, in fact she moved from clinical director to executive director. I had no idea that having an employee retention rate of less than 40% would get you promoted! Prior to this director, employee retention was 90%. Now this executive director is only hiring her friends to take on future positions, 5 to be exact. I don't understand how this is appropriate or even allowed. Furthermore, this director and company have made it clear in recent times that money and profit are more important than patient care. LHC group will no longer allow patients to have all the therapy and nursing care they need, soley because the company won't be paid for in full for these visits. I've had to beg for a patient to have therapy services and then there are repercussions for me. The company and this director say it's because of PDGM Medicare changes but this is not the case because I have personally spoken to many other home health companies and they say this is a lie. LHC doesn't care about patients! If you want to work for this company, I'd highly advise to find a different company unless you are ok working for poor management, having your clinical judgement consistently questioned, feeling as if you have no support and are ok with commiting Medicare fraud. Most importantly if you're a patient, find another agency that will treat you see fairly and give you the care you deserve.
