Pros

Exposure to different lines of business will stand you in good stead for working in other consultancies later on in your career - ie as well as core business of Career Management (or Outplacement) you could get exposure to Assessment, Executive Coaching, Leadership Development, Change Management. You will particularly thrive if you're young, driven and can start on a low salary. Some nice office perks such as fruit, Friday cocktail, a good social scene (if that's your thing) and pension & health. There are great people there who are loyal and engaged and who are doing a lot with very little.

Cons

Could be a case of being Jack of all trades and master of none- since take over by LHH which was traumatic for the business and the people and recovery still has not fully happened - business seems to be moving focus away from the Talent Management delivery (which is a long-term buying cycle) to the short term easy sell of the less complex outplacement side - which in my opinion has driven down thought leadership in this area and quality of delivery (and also client perception). Those who more established in your careers I would say this is less of a place for long-term progression - little of the great development programmes that are delivered to clients are available to staff which is quite a big undermining to ones engagement and trust. That said I saw some spectacular rises up the ranks in some individuals not necessarily all deserved though.

Thank you for your very honest and balanced review of your experience with us. You are right that we now have a new CEO and several new members of the leadership team, combined with the best of the existing team. There were definitely some challenges at the time of the acquisition, and now we are moving forward to realise the benefits of combining the largest player in the UK market (Penna) with the largest player in the global market (LHH). You will see a new culture of professionalism and experience, supported by investment and innovation, both in our Career Transition Services and especially in our Talent Development offering.
