Pros

Decent benefits, but declining over time. Leave is pretty good. Employees are good people and committed. They have nice coffee machines.

Cons

Lack of identity, disconnect with management, cost cutting culture, poor name recognition, few opportunities, poor outlook for organization over the long-term

Pros

-Flexible work location if the client allows flexibility -Many resources and learning opportunities

Cons

I joined LMI for the benefits, and I plan to leave the company due to their deterioration. Benefits that have declined since I joined: 1. Unlimited PTO used to be real. I took 40+ days of leave a year without counting holidays under the unlimited leave policy. Everyone was fine with it and happy with me because the client was happy. As long as client work was done, any leave was acceptable. The shift to "flexible" leave in place of unlimited leave has been awful. LMI tracks "direct to total," which brings the total days of leave allowed in a year below the industry standard. 2. In March 2025, we learned that LMI was taking away Indigenous Peoples Day/Columbus Day. The company effectively lowered all of our daily rates overnight. 3. The 401(k) match is falling from an effective 7% to 6%. Again, effectively lowering my salary more. 4. We have been told health insurance will either go up in cost or down in quality. This is happening everywhere but hurts more in light of other changes. In addition to the rapid decline of benefits, effective executive leaders were fired with less than a day's notice at the beginning of July. This has added strain to the level of leadership below them, making it impossible to communicate with managers. The leaders of my project now preach an expectation of hustle culture that is unsustainable. At the same time, the project is disorganized with leaders that fail to prioritize and insist on micromanaging rather than empowering employees to grow.

Pros

Nothing that differentiates LMI from the competition

Cons

They act like any other cutthroat consulting firm while hiding behind the facade of being not-for profit. If you look at their website, they continually stress that being not for profit separates them from the competition, because being not for profit makes them mission-focused. Talk is cheap. LMI management, like the management of every other government consulting firm, is in it for the money, and they will not hesitate to compromise their objectivity if the price is right. Example: Customs and Border Protection. It's been well-documented that building Donald Trump's Wall is a boondoggle that will not solve the immigration problems at the Mexico border. Yet LMI has led the effort to select the best wall designs. Why? Because there's money to be made. Objectivity goes out the window when there's a large dollar RFP to be won. If you'd like to work at a firm with a great elevator pitch that never goes beyond the elevator, LMI is the place for you!
