Pros

I have to put 20 words here so the only pro I can think of is that you get enough time of a break that you can leave.

Cons

You'd think that the children would be pros, however, since they're constantly being 'bumped' from class to class their poor minds cannot adapt as quickly therefor they act out in defiance and get punished because they either get bumped back an age group where they are bored or bumped up an age group where they have no idea what's going on. The teachers are constantly talking about each other and have no problem 'throwing you under the bus' for something you did not do but they refuse to take responsibility for themselves. They do not give you instructions of what you are supposed to do, because it is DHR regulated, you can only have so many children in an area per one adult which makes it absolutely difficult to get anything done for a child that needs additional attention (hurt, a bumped up 2 year old that needs a diaper changed in a 4 year old room, etc.). It is not a preschool to teach kindergarten, it is a daycare. Children cannot learn what they need when they are constantly being shifted. Children need routine and structure, this is anything but chaotic. And just for anyone who thinks they're being hired for a specific age group/teacher, think again, they will put you where they want you even when they asked you directly which age group can you not do and you specifically tell them, they'll just ignore you.

Pros

Super place to start if just starting out in the business. If you have creativity in the classroom, this is the place to experiment

Cons

Pay is VERY low compared to other centers. Curriculum is OLD and outdated. Never any planning time. Management cannot lend valuable support. High turnover of staff. Never enough budget to get simple supplies. OLD buildings.

Pros

-Benefits are good. That's the only reason I'm still working here. There are really no other pros that I can think of.

Cons

-Management does not work with you on scheduling. You can give them two weeks' notice for needing a day off and they act like you're a huge inconvenience. -Schedule is inconsistent. Every week they want me to come in at a different time. -Manager never recognizes you for doing things well. -They constantly make us take extra long lunch breaks to prevent us from getting overtime, and then schedule us for longer blocks of time. For example, they'll schedule you for a 9 1/2 hour block of time and then make you take hour and a half long lunches. -Very low pay
