Pros

Lots of benchtime and dead projects so plenty of free time.

Cons

- Bullying culture - asked to work weekends to meet unattainable deadline on failing project. - Backwards culture - tech lead: "why do you guys always go on about refactoring?"

Pros

The other reviews on here give you a fair warning - avoid at all costs. There were once plenty of smart people here, though almost all have left.

Cons

Senior management have all quit and not been replaced, no internal structure whatsoever, projects are drying up, way behind the innovation curve.

Pros

You get an macbook in a nice office with a games room and free food plus drinks every Friday, there's lots of benchtime so plenty of opportunities for personal learning, they are very flexible on the hours you do in office as most projects are run out of India.

Cons

Parent company Ion is a horrible place to work, benefits are low and they have zero respect for women. Many people are still listed as working for lab49 even though they left long ago as they are scared of repercussions, the actual number of engineers at the firm outside of India is very small.

Pros

- New projects generally use latest (stable) technologies - You get to move around teams and work with different people - Free subscription to Udemy - Generally pretty fun company events

Cons

- Cares more about getting things done quickly than making a good application - Moving between projects means you might get moved off your favorite project - Might kick you out early if you give them notice of resignation, without pay - Wants a 12 week (!) resignation notice (instead of 2) - Constantly understaffed* - Hiring practices are lengthy and outdated (they ask about prototypical inheritance sometimes) - You will be asked to help interview people that won't work at the company - No onsite HR/Office Admin - Little communication between project heads for people split between projects * The part about it being understaffed, in my opinion, contributed to a lot of stress on a few projects. If there were more people to go between projects, fewer people would be pulled in multiple directions simultaneously.

Pros

- Decent work-life balance - Good compensation

Cons

- No longer tech leaders/innovators - Working with clients that dictate antiquated tech stacks, ancient hardware and terrible architectural decisions - Projects ranging from same exact as last one to same exact as 10 years ago - Same basic project across engagements means little opportunity to learn new technology on the job - Staff aug-like environment, as clients demand on-site presence, leads to non existent company culture

Pros

The people are the main reason I stay here. Bright, engaged and passionate about their work. I think it's a rare chance to work with people who are experts in their field. Lots of interesting and challenging projects to work on. .

Cons

Colleagues are at different projects around the city and can't see them as often as you would like - so you need to be intentional about connecting when you are both in the home office.
