Pros

Great resources, great philosophy, great safety ethic and attention to detail in most departments that assist. There is good effort put into teaching tricks of the trade as well and good support on ancillary matters. Reputations are strong so customers come back again and again. I have not found another place yet (and several have asked me) that can offer the resources and tools here and still be on the same playing field, some try, but all fail.

Cons

There is some politics and favoritism amidst the ranks. I don't believe there is enough 1:1 sales support. They give you classes and how to's but some people just arent cut out for sales and others are. They don't favor the agent family equally across the board, they strive to build up strong a few good ones and the rest are to some extent left to fend for themselves. Still success is possible though. I just wish the agent family had ALOT more sales support and it wasn't just only given to the few who know which tail to kiss. We have overall 1.1 million in customer base (some are 1x only) but there is more than enough now and alot more possible where the elite sales staff could better help the agent family grow as a whole and not just the few top dogs. I also wish with the power this company has industry wide, we made more decisions based on our families (as a whole: agents/drivers/staff) to benefit us. There are certainly a few out there that are made solely to keep a customer happy and they happen at the detriment to some part of the family within and that is not right. There is no perfect place to work for another. I do also wish there was a bit more flexibility in how the pie was cut, but there is to many reasons to list on that front...

Pros

Excellent 401k program and can not beat the health insurance which has access to Mayo Clinic. Vacation is standard, 2 weeks and goes to 3 after 5 years of service. You also have 3 personal day and one floating holiday to use as you see fit. Also, recently added 2 sick days, but you have to lose them or will not be paid at the end of the year. Has good break rooms with coffee and hot chocolate. Cafeteria on sight, but the food is sandwiches and chips. Don't have to travel for lunch. Saves time and most people don't mind if you eat at your desk.

Cons

Inability to terminate people who do not complete there job. Tend to look around them and wait for someone else to pick up the slack. You can post for supervisor jobs within the company. However, most managers already have someone in mind and the interview process is a joke. Also, you have an annual review. Difference managers have different concepts on how this should be completed. You can have a 2.5 in your department, but may appear extremely low when you attempt to transfer to another department. No manager seems to be on the same page. It will hurt your chance for a promotion.
