      Pros

      Undoubtedly, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab is a great place to do scientific research and build a career, especially as a postdoc. The facilities are impressive.

      Cons

      The cost of living in the bay area is incredibly expensive and the postdoc salaries do not reflect this particular fact. Finding affordable and comfortable housing is a challenge and an overwhelming con.

      Pros

      I have had the pportunity to work on a wide array of important science challenges that matter. The people at Berkeley Lab are smart and excited about what they are doing. I feel like I am making a difference in the world working here.

      Cons

      The funding of projects is dependent on the federal funding for science and science is not always a priority. However, this cycle rarely actually leads to real cuts.
