Pros

Good location in proximity to UC Berkeley and Industries. Good for collaborations with high-level basic scientists at UC Berkeley and more applied scientists at LBNL. Great place to work.

Cons

No specific downsides related to LBNL, the usual downsides are on the pos-doc status: temporal job, high pressure, etc.

Pros

Great team, supportive environment, inspiring and innovative science. Employees are friendly and fun to work with. The view is spectacular.

Cons

The parking is very difficult and will only get worse. Often new projects or ideas are presented, only to get canceled because of budget issues. Budget constraints make innovation and keeping up with the outside world difficult. The technology and resources for operations employees behind the times.
