      Great place for a postdoc

      Pros

      Postdoc salary was good compared to other Bay Area options, definite prestige for your CV, great view from the top of the hill.

      Cons

      A shocking amount of back-stabbing and fighting between and among divisions. Claims to be collaborative but it's really the big fish who take all the credit. This probably varies depending on which division you are in. Tend to be locked into a project without much freedom or input. Many postdocs are glorified RAs. Safety culture is too extreme.

      Close to UC Berkeley. Great synchrotron light source. Nice people.

      Cons

      Old buildings with poor office space and common areas. Difficult communication with HR.

      Coworkers are very friendly, helpful, and respectful. The location is beautiful and the weather is consistently pleasant. There is a lot of interesting research being conducted on the premises.

      I enjoyed my work there. No Cons.
