      Nowhere to eat

      Pros

      I worked on Potter St. as a Student Assistant. Hours were flexible, very nice building in general. Good pay, hourly rate is definitely something to work with as a student.

      Cons

      Absolutely nowhere to eat at all. Be prepared to eat and bring sack lunches...every day. Or else you will have to go to the hot dog stand man and the taco truck daily like I did.

      Pros

      Very generous benefits, including the UC retirement plan. The environment and culture are also great. A lot of attention to safety. The level of the research is generally high.

      Cons

      There is no daycare on site. Considering the size of the lab it would be a valid addition to the facility. Funding issues can put a lot of pressure on the staff.

      Pros

      Met a wide range of engineers and scientists through the program which broadened my knowledge both in terms of current research topics but also in terms of technical fields/opportunities. My mentor was great and I learned a lot about testing procedure and technical writing.

      Cons

      Working on an individual project means that you are a bit isolated from the rest of campus and if you don't like what you're doing can be a bit dreary.
